Mnyakanya High School, situated in the Nkandla area, Kwa-Zulu Natal province, South Africa, was the first international school to join John Paul 2 Foundation 4 Sport.
Mnyakanya High School was officially opened by the late Dr Nelson Mandela in 2004 even though the school was founded in 1995. The school offers classes from grade 8 – grade 12 respectively.
William Vilakazi, Principal of Mnyakanya High School, says of Mnyakanya: “We share John Paul 2 Foundation 4 Sport’s vision and mission of building spiritual character through excellence in sporting skills and fitness, of fair play, acceptance of rules, respect of one’s opponent and sense of solidarity and unselfishness and freeing many sports facilities, so that young people can get off the street and play sports.”
Mnyakanya High School also works hand in hand with St. Mary’s Menston, under a partnership called Bambisanani, which aims to develop young leaders in both countries through sports and academically.
